The University of Žilina (UNIZA) has been granted funding for a European project “Mobility and Time Value (MoTiV) in the framework of the Horizon 2020 programme. The project proposal was submitted by ERAdiate.

I am very glad that the project in transport research, the traditional research area of Žilina University, has successfully passed the evaluations under the European Commission’s H2020 programme and will be funded. This is an excellent result of the collaboration of the ERA Chair for Intelligent Transport Systems – ERAdiate project – at our University“, said Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Tatiana Čorejová, PhD., Rector of UNIZA.

The MoTiV project, coordinated by UNIZA, will be funded under the “Research and Innovation” scheme for 30 months. ERAdiate will be leading a consortium of six other international partners, including major transport and transport planning centers, institutions, companies and a European-wide end-user association from Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland.

The main goal of the project is to advance research in the emerging area of Value of Travel Time (VTT). The results will be particularly useful for transport planning, transport engineers, economists and management bodies in the context of projects to improve the use of transport infrastructure.

The objective is to shift the level of research into travel time by introducing a conceptual framework for the estimation of VTT at an individual level. Such framework will be validated through data collection and evaluation throughout Europe. The data will be collected using a mobile application developed by the project consortium. With this mobile app, end-users will be able to more easily track, understand, and re-evaluate travel decisions to make the most of their free time in accordance with personal preferences, lifestyle, interests, and budget.

ERAdiate will cooperate with several UNIZA faculties when implementing the MoTiV project. Achieving this prestigious project is an example of disseminating the good experience and added value of the ERA Chair project and its team to the UNIZA scientific community, but also for those who travel and use the means of transport and transport infrastructure“, said prof. Ing. Milan Dado, PhD., Coordinator of the ERAdiate project.

A dataset on behavior and mobility acquired during the project will be available to the scientific community as a stimulus for further research in this area.

More information will be available soon on the ERAdiate website.
