Director-General of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, Prof. Vladimír Šucha, visited the University of Žilina on 4 March 2019. On the occasion of his visit, the agreement on the Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) between both institutions was signed, and Prof. Šucha also delivered a public lecture entitled “Global Information ecosystem: The role of Europe and Slovakia (Globálny informačný ekosystém a Európa a Slovensko v ňom)”. The successful application for the CDP was prepared by the ERAdiate team. Prof. Šucha visited the ERAdiate premises and discussed with the team their experience with the ERAchair project and research policy.

Thematic topic of the CDP is modelling in transport and energy. As a part of this partnership, PhD students will be jointly led by UNIZA and JRC tutors and will have the opportunity to take significant part of their doctoral studies at JRC laboratories. First call for applications within CDP was announced in April and it concerns first two topics:

  1. Assessment of innovative solutions for the European electricity market,
  2. Integration of smart solution to power system and digital grid interoperability testing.
