The Slovak Radio and Television (RTVS) broadcasted on 2 May 2019 an episode of its science-oriented talk show Experiment dedicated to the topics of future transport, cooperative, connected and automated mobility (CCAM). The guests of the show – ERA Chair holder of the ERAdiate project prof. Tatiana Kováčiková and ERAdiate team member Dr. Tibor Petrov – addressed the questions about recent shift of interest towards inclusive and sustainable mobility, potential of innovative technologies in transport and their socio-economic impacts.

In the first part of the show, prof. Kováčiková discussed the concepts of mobility, shared vehicles and envisaged future means of transport. The concept and issues of “last mile” in mobility context and cooperative navigation have been introduced. Prof. Kováčiková also stressed the increasing attractiveness and importance of active means of transport (e.g. cycling and walking) and their role in decarbonization of transport and positive impact on livability of cities. The last part of the interview was devoted to socio-economic and ethical aspects of CCAM and related impacts on economy and employment, including discussion about expected shift of job opportunities from transport to the technological sector.

The second part of the episode addressed topics mainly associated with CCAM, related technologies and changes required in transport infrastructure to facilitate its mass deployment. Dr. Petrov discussed the topic of vehicle automation levels in road transport, key technologies of highly automated vehicles and expected issues of transition phase towards fully automated transport.
