The Eradiate team, together with the Žilina self-governing region (ŽSGR), organised a future scenario-building workshop in Liptovské Revúce as part of the JUSTSAFE project.

The workshop brought together local representatives, senior residents and members of emergency response services to learn from their experience of emergency preparedness, especially in relation to floods and extreme rainfall. We focused in particular on the needs of elderly people living alone in remote rural areas, who may be more vulnerable when climate-related crises occur.

The discussion showed how important local knowledge, community cooperation and clear communication are in emergency situations. It also reminded us that strong local resilience needs to be supported by wider institutional action. The outcomes of the workshop will feed into our further work within the JUSTSAFE project on community-based approaches to emergency preparedness, supporting its aim to ensure that the most vulnerable groups are not left behind in times of climate change.
